The RBC 2010 Legacies Now Speaker Series hosted ten internationally-acclaimed speakers who shared their Olympic and Paralympic expertise with businesses and communities throughout BC.
From 2006-2008, these speakers visited several communities to share their knowledge and experience. They also participated in an interview which was webcast live and archived online at 2010LegaciesNow.com. The program was sponsored by RBC, CTV, the Province of British Columbia and the Vancouver Sun.
Dr. Jacques Rogge, president of the International Olympic Committee, spoke in Vancouver about the IOC’s commitment to creating sustainable legacies within the framework of the Olympic Games.
Craig Phillips, secretary general of the Australian Olympic Committee, visited BC to discuss how communities and businesses can capitalize on business, tourism and team hosting opportunities leading up to 2010.
Valentino Castellani, president of the Torino 2006 Organizing Committee, visited BC to share business successes and key lessons learned from hosting the 2006 Winter Games.
Australia's Margy Osmond visited BC to share lessons in Olympic business development.
Mark Lewis, president of Jet Set Sports, shared lessons in hospitality business development.
Olympic Games professional Felicity Shankar shared lessons in sponsorship, activation strategies and tourism opportunities.
Bill Malone, executive director of Utah’s Park City Chamber of Commerce, shared lessons learned from the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City.
Alan Pascoe, chair of Fast Track sports marketing agency, discussed how communities and local businesses can capitalize on major sport events.
Media strategist Jaime Rupert shared how communities and businesses can maximize media opportunities leading up to and beyond the 2010 Winter Games.
Torch Relay expert Di Henry shared how BC communities can capitalize on the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relays.
