Story
The 2006 Canadian Freestyle Skiing Series received $10,000 from Hosting BC. The two-day mogul event drew 41 athletes aged 14-26 from Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and BC, who competed in front of 300 spectators.
Surplus funds from the event went to local skier training, the purchase of equipment and an educational presentation for parents and volunteers. Direct economic benefits included local spending by organizers, participants and spectators. Media coverage provided significant marketing exposure for Cypress Mountian, a venue for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
