Story

The 2006 Biathlon North American Cup #3 was funded with $10,000 from Hosting BC. There were 135 male and female competitors from the U.S. and five Canadian provinces with ages ranging from 12-50.

A new biathlon range, constructed to international standards for the event, now has the capacity to be used for summer training as well as future biathlon events. When not in use, the range is used for kids' camps as a play and skills training area. There were seven officials and 87 volunteers trained for the Cup who can now serve at other competitions. Nearly all participants were visitors to the area who created an economic spin-off through renting accommodation and purchasing goods and services from local businesses.

Hosting BC provides BC communities with funding to host national and international sport events. The program is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
