Vancouver Hosts the CCAA National Soccer Championships

The 2006 Canadian Colleges Athletic Association National Soccer Championships received $10,000 from Hosting BC. There were 300 male and female student athletes involved in the event, comprising 12 teams from seven Canadian provinces. Players competed in front of 800 spectators and were supported by 106 volunteers.

Economic impact is estimated at $250,000 and includes local spending by participants and spectators. Surplus funds from the event will be used to host future local, provincial and national events and residual specialized equipment will be used for Langara College hosting initiatives.

Hosting BC provides BC communities with funding to host national and international sport events. The program is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
