Story
The 2006 Bell GrandPrix/Mel Zajac Jr. International Swim Meet received $10,000 from Hosting BC. The event attracted 344 athletes from Hungary, the U.S. and six Canadian provinces who competed in front of 1,200 spectators.
Economic impact includes local spending by participants and spectators and using local suppliers for event contracts. The competition enabled training for new officials and 150 volunteers who can serve in future meets. Extensive media coverage offered significant marketing exposure for the area and the region.
