Story
Sea View School used its $3,500 Explorations grant to offer a one-week arts, sport and recreation camp for 30 children, aged three to 11. As a result of numerous lay-offs from the town's major employer the previous year, many family members were forced to leave the community to find work. This left many single parents behind with limited resources to enrol their children in a summer activity. The program ensured that young people in the community, with limited financial resources, could learn new skills and enjoy some summer fun. Each camp day was divided into art and soccer components, along with mini activities throughout the day. The finale included an art show and tour for children and their parents.
