Story
Representatives from Spirit of BC committees throughout the East and West Kootenays gathered in Rossland in 2006 for the first in a series of regional roundtables hosted by 2010 Legacies Now. The roundtable provided a forum for discussion on the issues facing committees as they move forward to develop and implement their individual action plans.
"The roundtable was an opportunity to bring community committees together to provide details and learn information on 2010 Legacies Now programs and upcoming initiatives," said Pam Lewin, chair of the Trail Spirit of BC Committee. "The chance for us as chairs to share our experiences and progress, and report out on successes and challenges was worthwhile."
The agenda included interactive presentations on 2010 Legacies Now program areas, developing community opportunity plans, using the Spirit of BC brand effectively and the Arts Build Communities program.
Guest presenters included Abbotsford Spirit of BC Committee chair Christine Wiebe, Kootenay Rockies Tourism president Chris Dadson and 2010 Commerce Centre manager of business connections Ken Veldman. The keynote speaker was Initiatives Prince George events manager Virginia Sprangers, whose topic, "We Went, We Saw, We Learned - Tales from Torino," sparked the interest and imagination of the delegates.
