Story
With an Explorations grant of $10,000, Robert Scott and Sunset Elementary Schools offered two two-week arts camps to 46 children, aged seven to 12, in the summer of 2005. The full-day programs offered instruction in a variety of fine arts activities such as drama, dance, vocal arts, computer art, digital photography, guitar, pottery, painting, and paper mâché. The camp was offered in full at each elementary school and provided children with expert training they would not normally receive via the general school curriculum. The camp also served the children of the Tsulquate First Nations reserve, as well as those from Sointula, a 35-minute ferry ride away.
