The 2007 Canada Post Freestyle Grand Prix at Apex Mountain Resort received $40,000 from HostingBC. The mogul and aerial event drew 137 athletes, aged 17-30, and from 17 countries including the Czech Republic, New Zealand, Belarus and Italy. There were 5,000 spectators and the webcast had 300,000 viewers. More than 120 volunteers supported the event.
Local economic impact was estimated at $2.2 million. The extensive international media promotion - 67 hours of programming in North America, Europe and Asia - is expected to draw visitors to the area. The competition brought a permanent freestyle training facility to Apex which will attract future competitors to the venue. Volunteer leaders have been trained to national and international standards and may serve at future high-level competitions.
