Oliver and Osoyoos Celebrate Spirit of BC Week 2008

Oliver and Osoyoos had almost 500 people participate in their free recreation events as part of their Spirit of BC Week 2008 celebrations. The two communities also held a mini Four Season Challenge of curling, bocce ball, snowshoe baseball and bowling. The Challenge wrapped up at the bowling alley in Osoyoos with the town's recreation department providing snacks.

Other activities included free skating, use of fitness and recreation facilities, yoga, circuit training and exhibits at the Osoyoos Art Gallery and the Osoyoos Museum. There was also a hip hop dance for teens at Oliver Community Hall.

Spirit of BC Week is an annual province-wide celebration of British Columbia and its unique communities. Held each February, it is a week of over 300 events and activities showcasing local programs and services that strengthen community arts, literacy, sport, recreation and volunteerism. The celebration is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
