Story
The Measuring Up Parksville Committee is dedicated to assisting the City of Parksville in becoming more accessible and inclusive to persons with disabilities and to educate and inform the public on important disability-related issues. The committee puts strategies in place to bring positive change to the community and to also bring people together.
In 2008, the Measuring Up Parksville Committee received $20,000 from the Measuring Up Fund. Since its establishment in 2008, the committee has accomplished a fair amount in their community, including hosting two public forums, conducting an accessibility challenge, presenting to various organizations and the municipal government, developing an Access Parksville Website, and publishing the 2009 Parksville Accessibility Booklet, which is focused on improving access for persons of all abilities. The Accessibility Booklet is available to the public at the Parksville Visitor's Centre, City Hall and at select local businesses.
