Story
The 2006 Pushor Mitchell Kelowna Apple Triathlon received $15,000 from Hosting BC. The event attracted 1,000 athletes from around the world and spectators were estimated at 3,500 with 500 volunteers supporting the event.
Funding enabled equipment upgrades, the establishment of additional training camps and support for the Regional Training Centre. Economic spin-off from the triathlon included increased accommodation bookings and participant and visitor spending at local businesses. The event was webcast, resulting in significant exposure for the sport and the local area.
