Grand Forks Measures Up in Accessibility

Grand Forks received $15,000 from Measuring Up. Funds were used to hire a coordinator to survey local businesses to assess the job market for people with disabilities. In addition, there will be a community forum for employers and persons with a disability; and a proposed employer network will support business owners who wish to employ persons with a disability.

Measuring Up helps communities assess and improve how accessible and inclusive they are for people with disabilities, seniors and others with similar needs. The program includes a fund, established by the Province of British Columbia, which offers grants to communities to complete accessibility-related projects.
