Comox Valley Celebrates Spirit of BC Week 2008

The Comox Valley Spirit Van travelled throughout the community to promote the spirit of 2010 to more than 2,000 residents. One of 100 communities celebrating Spirit of BC Week 2008, the Comox Valley Spirit of BC Committee hosted the public at swim and skate events, basketball tournaments, a junior hockey game, a gymnastics meet and cross country ski activities at Mount Washington. The Committee members were also at Aspen Middle School to take students through the SportFit challenge.

Committee Chair and Olympian Susan Kelsey spoke at each event, helping to raise awareness of how Comox can connect to the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Spirit of BC Week is an annual province-wide celebration of British Columbia and its unique communities. Held each February, it is a week of over 300 events and activities showcasing local programs and services that strengthen community arts, literacy, sport, recreation and volunteerism. The celebration is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
