Canal Flats Measures Up in Accessibility

Canal Flats received $15,000 from Measuring Up. Funds were used to install accessible washrooms at the Civic Centre, Seniors Hall and Ice Arena with plans for another washroom at the Source of the Columbia trailhead. In addition, funds will support an access platform at the new para-transit bus stop, a ramp at the Village office, and a new disabled parking spot at the post office.

Measuring Up helps communities assess and improve how accessible and inclusive they are for people with disabilities, seniors and others with similar needs. The program includes a fund, established by the Province of British Columbia, which offers grants to communities to complete accessibility-related projects.
