Campbell River Measures Up in Accessibility

Campbell River received $20,000 from Measuring Up. Funds were used to conduct an accessibility audit of three city parks and two trail systems, looking at infrastructure such as washrooms, parking and eating areas and any access barriers. The grant also supported improvements identified in the audit including the purchase of two accessible picnic tables. The community now plans to build an accessible playground.

Measuring Up helps communities assess and improve how accessible and inclusive they are for people with disabilities, seniors and others with similar needs. The program includes a fund, established by the Province of British Columbia, which offers grants to communities to complete accessibility-related projects.
