Burnaby Hosts the National Table Tennis Championships

The 2005 Canadian National Table Tennis Championships received $10,000 from Hosting BC. The qualifying event for the Canada Cup, the Championships involved 213 competitors from seven provinces who played in front of 1,500 spectators.

Surplus equipment purchased for the Championships was offered to qualified organizations at reduced cost. Economic benefits included increased accommodation bookings by participants, guests and spectators as well as purchase of other goods and services. The 67 volunteers trained will be able to serve in future competitions.

Hosting BC provides BC communities with funding to host national and international sport events. The program is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
