Story

The BC Racquetball Association (BCRA) received $8,000 from the BC Sport Participation Program to deliver an outreach program through middle and secondary schools in the Okanagan. More than 400 youth, aged 13-17, and two coaches participated in the program in three communities from 2004-2007.

A local BCRA instructor offered a series of lessons aiming to create a racquetball club youth league. Equipment purchased for the program also remained in the region for use by the youth.

The following communities participated in BC Racquetball's Okanagan Growth Program: Kelowna, Salmon Arm and Vernon.

The BC Sport Participation Program aims to increase sport participation in community and school-based sports. From 2004-2007 the program gave more than $2 million to 22 sport organizations running programs in 109 communities for close to 85,000 participants and more than 4,600 coaches. The program is funded by the Province of British Columbia and Sport Canada.
