Story

The 2006 Canadian National Championships for BMX cycling received $10,000 from Hosting BC. The event drew 520 athletes aged 4-60 from five Canadian provinces who competed in front of 1,200 spectators.

The event enabled repairs to the facility, including bringing the track to international standards. Economic activity generated includes hotel room nights booked, contracts awarded to local suppliers and local spending on goods and services by participants, spectators and volunteers. More than 85 volunteers were trained for the event, qualifying them to serve at other high-level competitions.
