100 Mile House Celebrates Spirit of BC Week 2008

100 Mile House, one of more than 100 communities celebrating Spirit of BC Week 2008, kicked off community festivities with a Spirit Flag Raising Ceremony. During the week, 350 participants enjoyed free activities such as square dancing in local supermarkets and other venues, gymnastics, tae kwon do and music. Diversity Artwork included an Art Show and a contest for young artists at the Arts and Cultural Centre. In addition, local author Kathleen Waldrom unveiled her new book "Forest A to Z" at a reading and book signing literacy event.

Spirit of BC Week is an annual province-wide celebration of British Columbia and its unique communities. Held each February, it is a week of over 300 events and activities showcasing local programs and services that strengthen community arts, literacy, sport, recreation and volunteerism. The celebration is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
